Dance
crosses all boundaries you don't even have to speak the same language!
You can express yourself without words its addictive. When you dance
it takes your mind of everything and you communicate in a way that is
unique and special." (Kate x)
When
I'm asked about Salsa I usually talk
about the dance itself, but the
world of Salsa is
much more.
I discovered Salsa
whilst looking for something more then 'dancin around the handbag'.
I have since
ventured
into the world of teaching Salsa having qualified to attend the Latin
School of Dance in order to obtain my professional Diploma. Having
come from a back ground in the fitness industry working at top Spa
Resorts in the UK, I realized how much of my job involved mixing with
people, which I loved the most. I also realized there is
more to being a dance teacher then knowing steps... you have to be
able to make everyone feel at easy and comfortable in a group setting,
while keeping a up beat positive fun attitude, and also to...
not take your self too seriously, laugh when you can is the best
medicine for life. I've now come to dedicate my life to
teaching Salsa as a full time job. But more importunately do my very
best to bring everyone together as a social, friendly group.
From all this training I try to be a clear and concise teacher, breaking
down every move into manageable sections that I describe in detail. But
my natural ‘crazy girl’ and sense of fun still over powers me at
time, so the class is quite fun and informative.
I have also been booked to teach at one of the biggest congresses in
United Kingdom the UK Salsa Kingdom amongst the line up with the world’s top
teachers of Latin dance.
My biggest honor to date
is being place in the top 3 for The UK Best National Teachers
Award for teaching Salsa in 2008 (to include the massive London
based schools)!
I
didn't realize that
I was actually missing out, until
I ventured into Salsa
and discovered a whole new scene, not only to learn to dance but
dancing with true choreography behind the steps that anyone can do! You
don't have to be famous or a movie star to learn Salsa, just the will to try and
have a go, meet new friends and be part of our lovely group.
And of course meet new friends.

When you arrive for the first time, often we hear that
some are a little nervous. We currently have a variety of people attending our
class, singles of both men and women, couples, and groups, big or small, with
all levels of fitness (you don't have to be fit to join our group) but luck
would have it dancing will make you fit without you even noticing! All are assured of a
warm welcome.
Four Beginner moves are then taught initially by breaking each
step down, then we walk through the move together, and finally practice it to
music! The moves are taught one by one, and then linked together; so after 30-40
minutes, even a brand new beginner will be able to get through an entire track,
dancing those four moves to the music! We then build each week on more
moves, that can be used within your own routine. We teach moves that can be
dance socially, we do have a vast variety of moves, but we prefer to keep our
moves danceable in any club/party setting, rather than something almost
impossible to do in a social scene! You do not have to be super fit to join our
group, however you will notice your fitness improve as time goes by without even
being aware of it! So please feel free to browse our website, the top buttons will take
you to all the pages on this site.
